More out than in for City as deadline nears

The deadline for Championship clubs to complete permanent transfers is 12 days away and Coventry City are more likely to be shipping players out than making new signings.

Cover at right-back is a possibility but the Sky Blues' focus is on offloading the likes of Chris Birchall and Kevin Kyle.

'We'd like to reduce the size of the squad,' chairman Ray Ranson told The Coventry Telegraph.

'The manager has said on numerous occasions that he wants to trim it down to the low 20s but with a lot more quality, so from that point of view we'd like to move a few on.'
