'If It's Football, It's Vital'

World Cup interest for Sky Blues fans

After having only Michael Mifsud to follow in the European Championship qualifiers, Coventry City fans will now be looking closely at both Wales and the Republic of Ireland in the upcoming World Cup fixtures after the signings of Freddy Eastwood and Kieren Westwood.

Eastwood has become a key part of the Wales team in recent months and the prospect of regular first-team football at the Ricoh Arena will please boss John Toshack.

Goalkeeper Westwood is in the thoughts of new Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni and received his first call-up recently.

Westwood told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: 'It was an absolute honour when I got called up.

'I was very shocked because at the time I was a League One player.'
