Fistful of pounds scuppers Eastwood deal

Freddy Eastwood will not be part of the Coventry City squad that reports back for pre-season training on Monday after his on-off move to the Ricoh was finally called off.

'We agreed terms with Wolves and Chris met with Freddy last week to discuss personal terms,' chairman Ray Ranson told the Coventry Telegraph.

'We agreed what I would consider to be a very attractive four-year contract but unfortunately the deal collapsed because of money the player is legally entitled to under the terms of his contract at Wolves.

'We are now searching high and low for a proven goalscorer in the Championship.'

You wouldn't want him anyway. There are many many better strikers out there who would cost half the price. It's for the best I think.
