'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Daily Mail disrespectful to City number two

Vital Coventry usually resists buying or even reading the Daily Mail at all costs but their treatment of an approach to assistant manager Steve Kean by Chelsea deserves a mention.

The headline in the online edition of the 'paper reads 'Coventry nobody Kean turns down offer to join Scolari's coaching staff at Chelsea' while the story goes on to claim an 'astonishing snub' by Kean in rejecting the approach.

Aside from his playing spell in Portugal which has given Kean knowledge of the language used by new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe scolari, he is an experienced coach with spells in both the Premier League and Spain behind him.

Hardly a nobody except in these 'Big Four' fixated days.

It may be a surprise that Kean has turned an approach from Chelsea but he is a main man at the Ricoh Arena, someone trusted fully by Chris Coleman and responsible for most of the coaching done at Ryton.

The Mirror also adopts a patronising tone with their comment that 'Coventry assistant manager Steve Kean also claims to have snubbed an offer to become part of Luiz Felipe Scolari`s backroom team, preferring the, er, delights of the Ricoh Arena to the glamour of the King`s Road.'

***Update***As of 14:11 pm, the Daily Mail story reads 'Coventry assistant Kean turns down offer to join Scolari's coaching staff at Chelsea.'

If they are not from the Premiership and a big name then the tabloids show their true colours and ignorance of anyone outside the Premiership.
