'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Coventry City transfer talk - week 6

The Sky Blues are closing in on their second signing of the summer are also well on the way to signing a new goalkeeper.

David Bell - The Sky Blues have made an offer for the Luton midfielder and left the ball firmly in the Hatters' court. Chairman Ray Ranson confirmed recently that an increased bid will not be forthcoming.

Carlos Bocanegra - 'Totally untrue! Chris (Coleman) has never once mentioned his name to me,' was Ranson's to-the-point summing up of a link with the USA international recently.

Neil Eardley - Highly-rated and versatile, Oldham Athletic's 19-year-old Wales international has been linked with City recently.

Freddy Eastwood - Cardiff have expressed an interest in the striker although manager Dave Jones said recently: "We have looked at Freddy, but I believe he will go elsewhere." Maybe not to the Ricoh Arena however with the Sky Blues taking an interest in Heidar Helguson and Gregorz Rasiak as alternatives.

Anthony Gerrard - The young Walsall player could follow in the footsteps of former team-mates Dan Fox and Scott Dann according to reports last week.

Aron Gunnarsson - AZ Alkmaar have confirmed that a fee for the 19-year-old midfielder is in place. The Icelandic international is discussing terms at the Ricoh.

Kieran Westwood - The Carlisle United goalkeeper has reportedly been the subject of an increased bid from Coventry this week. 'If there is to be any business done financially then it needs to be done now,' Brunton Park boss John Ward told BBC Radio Cumbria.

Some very interesting links to players. Westwood was the best keeper in League one by a distance last season.
