'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Can I play you every week?

Scunthorpe United's Jack Cork, the scorer of the winning goal against Coventry City at the weekend, insists his goal was intended.

'It was definitely a shot' said the player, on loan at Glanford Park from Chelsea.

'I turned and saw there wasn't much on, so I sort of hit it really hard.'

Cork also netted against City at the Ricoh Arena earlier in the season and added in the Scunthorpe Telegraph: 'Coventry are the only team I seem to score against at the minute.

'I even scored twice against them for the reserves at Chelsea.

'I wish I could play them every week.'

Cork is the son of former Sky Blues coach Alan, part of Micky Adams' backroom team.

'I'm delighted and it's a big thing for me to score against Coventry, just for the fact they sacked my dad,' the player is quoted as saying in the Mirror.

'He worked for Micky Adams there when he was manager, but left when Micky got the sack. So this is revenge.'
