'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Coleman - Cov bigger than Fulham

Chris Coleman has already begun endearing the Coventry fans, but will probably not have pleased his former club Fulham's fans.

He is claiming that Coventry have more potential than his former club Fulham, with the 28,000 fans that turned up for the FA Cup tie with West Brom last weekend being enough to convince him of this, he said: "If you look at the stadium here, they had 28,000 fans against West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup at the weekend and we had been on a bad run.

"I never had 28,000 fans at Fulham when we were doing well and playing Manchester United or Chelsea.

"The maximum we ever had at Fulham was 25,000, but this is a big club.

"There is a catchment area here for us so we need to give the Coventry fans a team they want to support."

As Coleman says it is now down to him and the team to make sure that Coventry City is a Football Club that people want to support, and support regularly and if he can deliver what he is talking he shouldn't have a problem.

Well, that's harsh!

It`s worse than harsh my friend, Fulham fans have always had good things to say re. Cookie and wished him well but he will not endear himself to them for much longer with uncalled for comments such as these. In time you too will understand his shortcomings and many FFC fans expect you to have a new manager within a year. Good luck.

Not being biased or anything, but it doesn't seem that harsh to me. I mean, the fact is that on Saturday we pulled in more people than you could in any Premiership game. We scored 28,000+ fans and I think your capacity is 26,000? Also, we are a one team city, with a large surrounding catchment area. Historically, we used to get gates of upwards of 50,000+. On top of that, we have a strong recent record of top flight football, whereas arguably your recent success is down to a sugar daddy. Again, not meaning to rain on your parade lads. I have a lot of time for Fulham, love your part of the country, and really respect what you've managed to do in the Premiership. But c'mon, we have a decent defence case here! Also, if you think Coleman was bad for just quoting a few numbers, you should see what Craig Bellamy said about Coventry after he left us...then you'll really know what harsh words are! ;)
