More manager rumours

With Iain Dowie being tipped by Wednesday's papers for an immediate return to management with Southampton, his successor at Coventry City remains the subject of speculation.

Former boss Eric Black and ex-Fulham supremo Chris Coleman are the latest names to enter the frame, with Nigel Pearson still the bookies' favourite.

The Coventry Telegraph reports that permission has been sought from Wigan Athletic to speak to Black, currently working under Steve Bruce at the JJB Stadium.

I think we're doing the right thing looking for a coach to work with a young side and someone to oversee transfers. Dowie's comments about how much we paid for Dann cannot have helped his cause.

We've got someone you can have, ex England captain and Manchester United midfielder. We'd pay you to take Brian Robson off our hands?
